PT. Permata Putera Mandiri cooperates with the community in managing TBS trucks

PT Permata Putera Mandiri (PPM), a business unit of PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) engaged in the palm oil industry in West Papua, signed a partnership with the Sumano Hiwa Mandiri Transportation Cooperative to operate a dump truck for fresh fruit bunches (FFB) transporters ) into a palm oil mill.

Chaired by Agus Hadome and members of five clans in Sumano Village - Idene, Hadome, Akerae, Henaye and Wahube - Sumano Hiwa Mandiri Cooperative has bought a dump truck and handed over directly to GM Ali Dinar Nur in a simple event in the PPM operations office, Wednesday (6/26/2019).
Through leasing cooperation, PT PPM will manage trucks which will be used to bring FFB to palm oil mills operated by PT Putera Manunggal Perkasa (PMP), ANJ's business unit in South Sorong Regency.

"The achievement by the Sumano Hiwa Mandiri Transportation Cooperative is the people's effort to gain economic independence that is proud and as evidence of their support for PT PPM and PMP operations in South Sorong," GM Ali Dinar Nur said in his press release after the handover.

PT PMP is entering the completion stage of the construction of the first line of palm oil mill (mill) with an initial production capacity of 45 MT per hour. Facility construction has exceeded 90 percent and is planned for completion in the second quarter of 2019. By 2021, the mill at PMP is targeted to be able to reach a production level of 90 MT per hour.

The commissioning process of the mill operation has begun gradually at the end of May 2019 which processes the first harvest of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) from PMP and PPM plantations. The total planted area of ​​PT PMP and PT PPM plantations was 8,678 hectares at the end of 2018.

Head of Government Relations and Stakeholders of ANJ in the East region, Gritje Fonataba, said that the cooperative cooperation in transportation is long-term and PPM will provide assistance for 1 year until the community is ready to manage truck operations in a sustainable manner.
"This assistance needs to be done to strengthen management so that people who are members of cooperatives will be able to manage their own dump truck operations independently," said Gritje. "If it can be released then they will have their own income, be independent and naturally their dump truck investment will benefit themselves," he added.
